The Wallflowers

They say all good things come to an end. But when those things back come and rise again, well, we couldn’t be any happier. For all the music junkies out there who die a little bit inside when their favorite band breaks up or takes that much too long of a hiatus, the stars have re-aligned. “We never broke up.” says vocalist-guitarist Jakob Dylan.

It’s been a great few years for reunions and we only can hope that they keep a comin’. Whether it be an original lineup, an anniversary tour, or a new album, we couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you, Wallflowers.

Read all about the Wallflowers reunion here! We are certainly glad.

WXPN welcomes the Wallflowers at The Troc, TOMORROW night with special guests My Jerusalem. Get tix here and enjoy the show! http://ticketf.ly/UwLABu

She is our newest style icon.

She is just 21.

She is the British singer-songwriter:

Rita Ora.

Aside from being one of the few who can rock flames as day wear, she has recently released her debut album ‘Ora’ which killed the UK charts at number one. Her Roc Nation label boss? Jay-Z. Want to know who she worked with on the album? Well, let us tell you- Will. I. Am., Ester Dean, Drake, The-Dream, Kanye West and Stargate- talk about the ill crew. She has even been featured in Nylon Mag (we looove Nylon) and GQ! We expect big things from this one, so come see her first at The Troc! MTV presents the O.R.A tour which hits Philly Sunday, Oct. 28th. Also performing are even more up-and-comers, Iggy Azalea and Havana Brown! Doors are at 8pm!

There is nothing better than a man who can do it all. Lead singer, lyricist and guitarist, Mr. Paul Banks, will be gracing us with his presence at The Troc Saturday, November 10th. You may have heard of him from somewhere, say from the band Interpol? Of course you have.

We couldn’t be more excited that his sophomore full-length studio album titled “Banks” is streaming now before its release on October 22nd, through Matador records. He has been said to parallel Ian Curtis of the English post-punk band Joy Division. Let’s see what we hear with this listening. Stream now here!

And check out Drowned In Sound’s interview with Paul sometime next week where he gives insight into the album and his songwriting process. They gave us a sneak peek here:

Combine punk rock and horror film and what do you get?

Yes, the Misfits and all the glory that is the horror punk subgenre. I hope if you’re rocking a Misfit skull tee around that you are at least familiar with their awesomely aggressive punk music. If not, it only makes sense that you listen to this punk roar called ‘Halloween’…you know with it being October and all NOW, here! Other things you need to know-

That skull logo? It’s based on a poster for the film serial “The Crimson Ghost.”

Misfits- is the title of Marilyn Monroe’s final movie.

You are a “Fiend” if you are listening to the Misfits right now.

Don’t forget to come see this killer band at The Trocadero, Friday Oct.19th with The Attack, No Risk, and The Hellstroms at 8pm! Get tix here
